Sensory stories are narratives designed to engage more than just the sense of hearing or sight. They incorporate touch, smell, sound, and sometimes even taste to create a rich, immersive experience. These stories often use props, textured materials, scents, and sound effects to bring the narrative to life.

Sensory stories are especially useful for children with learning differences, such as autism or sensory processing challenges, but they can benefit all learners by making stories more accessible and enjoyable.

Our CPD will increase your confidence in sharing stories in multi sensory ways and give you loads of ideas and a framework to start developing your own.

Suitable for school and library staff working with Early Years and Primary key stages and with SEND pupils in mainstream and special school settings.

Depending on the module you choose, we will also leave a sensory story ‘kit’ of 6 specially selected books accompanied by a list of resource suggestions to help you deliver each story in a sensory way.

Depending on the colour modules you choose, you can have:

Pink module – 1 hour session CPD session

Purple module – 1 hour session with sensory story ‘kit’ left with you until the end of term
