Making reading fun! These lively and interactive sessions are designed to facilitate greater engagement between parents/carers, the school, and their children’s reading.

Our Reading Cafés are tailored to these age groups:

EYFS/KS1 Reading Café
Begins with formal message to parents/carers emphasising the importance of reading for pleasure, then children join them for informal parent/carer – child reading time.
One session is:
1 hour in school, with a member of CLS staff, CLS provides books & resources to be used during the session, CLS provides recommended reading lists for parents/carers to take away.
Plus 30 books to borrow for the rest of term.

KS2 Reading Café
Begins with formal message to parents/carers emphasising the importance of reading for pleasure & how they can help their child who is now reading more independently, then children join them for informal parent/carer – child reading time.
One session is:
1 hour in school, with a member of CLS staff, CLS provides books and resources to be used during the session, CLS provides recommended reading lists for parents/carers to take away.
Plus 30 books to borrow for the rest of term.
